We have traveled to lots of different places in this beautiful state, but one place just keeps calling my family back time and time again. There is no denying that the Great Smoky Mountains are a magical place that holds a special place in our hearts. Whenever we travel, we love to camp along the way and we might have found the best campground in Tennessee. Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg KOA has everything you could ever want and need within a campground and it has made it to the top of our list of places to stay in this beautiful part of Tennessee.

Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg KOA is open all year and naturally, the busiest time is in the summer.

We have been multiple times and all agree that it's a great place to visit all year long. You might not want to dip in the pool in the winter, but you can certainly appreciate the snowcapped mountains or the plethora of events in the area. Not only is it located just minutes away from Dollywood, it's also conveniently located just down the road from multiple restaurants and attractions... so location alone makes this one of the best campgrounds in Tennessee -- but that's just the beginning!

There are several ways to stay at this KOA: you can haul in your RV, tent, or rent a cabin.

The cabins come in all kinds of shapes and sizes offering all sorts of special features. They have everything from a simple single-room cabin to lavished glamping cabins that would be more comparable to tiny homes. Signature features like a screened-in porch, big firepits, and secluded privacy all come together making for a unique experience within the campground.

Kids will have plenty to do and that is one of the reasons we love this campground so much.

Most KOA campgrounds feature a jump pillow or jump pad of some sort, but the one at Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg KOA is massive, allowing for big air and it is surrounded by soft sand. There is plenty of room to get seriously high up when you jump and as a bonus, there is a great view of the mountains as you jump.

The playground also has multiple sections to it allowing kids to skip from one game to the next.

Deeper into the property you can find the backyard section that has famous lawn games that everyone loves. Play a game of cornhole, bocce ball, horseshoes, and many more. If that weren't enough, the staff works hard to create activities every day, so you'll never be at a loss of things to do.

Perhaps the best feature of the whole campground is the pool area.

Guests can splash and play in a standard pool, but the lazy river really takes things to the next level. The pool is heated and not only does it look beautiful, it is a blast to float along and let the current take you round and round. My family has enjoyed this part of the campground so much we almost don’t want to leave to see the best natural attraction nearby…

…The Smoky Mountains are visible from the property and only minutes away you can be surrounded by one of the most enchanting mountain forests in the world.

The allure of our national park is so great that we can’t help but make our way into the park whenever it is possible. From epic hikes to scenic drives, nothing is quite like these amazing mountains. So when you stay at this KOA, make sure you venture into the park and spend a day immersing yourself in this enchanted forest.

It tops the list for me, this is the best campground in Tennessee. It is open year-round, the options to stay are diverse, the amenities are second to none, and this campground gives us alot of reasons to love it.
